Welcome to the website of the Tennessee Valley Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), a proud member of the Alabama Society, Sons of the American Revolution. The Tennessee Valley Chapter was organized Sunday, April 28, 1957, at a dinner at the Lyons Hotel in Decatur, Alabama. Chapter Officers and a Board of Managers were elected at that dinner. Richard H. Dewey, Decatur, Al was elected the first Chapter President.
We are a growing, vibrant chapter with approximately 200 members. All of our members are lineal descendants of a patriot who either fought for independence during the Revolutionary War or provided material aid for the cause. If you are interested in membership, contact the Registrar shown on the Officers page or go to the "How to Join" page for more information. We need you as a member of the Tennessee Valley Chapter!
We have several programs to support our youth. If you are a young person in school, be sure to check out all of our youth programs. You can’t win if you don’t enter!
We honor individuals for acts of heroism, outstanding firefighters, policemen, and emergency medical personnel. We present flag certificates to those who properly display the US flag. We honor veterans and give presentations in schools. We have a number of Youth programs and a Teacher of the Year program. We have a very active color guard and we always need more members. Be sure to check out the "Color Guard" tab if you are interested in the color guard.
The Tennessee Valley Chapter meets at the Huntsville/Madison County Public Library on the second Monday of each month at 11:00 am except for the month of March when we hold our Annual Chapter Banquet. Wives and guests are always welcome at our meetings. Join us at a meeting as a guest, you'll want to come back!
If you are interested in history and the founding of this great nation and enjoy the company and fellowship of like-minded individuals, you have come to the right place!
